Kazutora-"Hey. Baji."
Baji-"Hm?"
Kazutora-"I'm going to ask Ichigo out."
Baji momentarily choked on the chips he was snacking on.
Baji-"Wha--!!"
He cleared his throat.
Baji-"...Why are you telling me this?"
Kazutora-"Because I know you like her."
Baji-"I don't like her like that."
Kazutora-"...Sure. I just thought I'd let you know."
Baji balled his hands into a fist.
Baji-"...When are you gonna ask her?"
Kazutora-"Hmm...I hadn't figured that out yet."
Baji-"Wha--! Don't ask her out if you're gonna be so half-assed about it!"
Kazutora-"I'm not being half-assed about it. I just haven't thought that far, yet. And..."
Kazutora eyes met Baji's.
Kazutora-"I thought it would only be fair to tell you, first."
Baji-"Idiot. You don't need my approval for this shit."
Kazutora-"...If you say so. So then, you won't mind if I asked her out today?"
Baji once again choked.
Baji-"Today!? You're just gonna ask her so suddenly!?"
Kazutora-"It's not so suddenly. I think I've felt this way for a while."
Baji stared at him with a bewildered expression, despite having noticed the signs a long time ago.
Kazutora-"But...you've liked her a lot longer, right?"
Kazutora stared at Baji waiting for a response.
Baji-"...My feelings got nothing to do with the two of you. Anyway, I just told you that I don't like her that way and that you don't need my blessing or whatever.
Kazutora-"Alright then."
The two sat in silence for a while. Kazutora thought about how he would ask Ichigo out, when the timing would be right, how she might respond. He wanted to get Baji's opinion on the matter, but knew that would be pushing it. No matter how many times Baji denied it, he knew he had feelings for Ichigo for a long time, but Kazutora wasn't willing to throw away his own feelings, either.
Baji-"Kazutora."
Kazutora looked back at him.
Baji-"You'd better protect her."
Kazutora nodded with a determined expression.
Baji-"If you ever hurt her, I'll kick your ass so hard you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
Kazutora-"Haha. Scary."
Baji-"Don't laugh, jackass."
Kazutora-"Sorry, sorry."
Kazutora stood up.
Kazutora-"...Well, then, I'd better go tell her."
He began to walk away, but stopped for a moment.
Kazutora-"Baji...I promise I'll take care of her."
